While in high school, Jon-Michael was a three sport athlete (football, wrestling and soccer) winning two state championships in wrestling. Although Jon-Michael was recruited to wrestle by both Oklahoma and Iowa State, he finally settled on the United States Air Force Academy.
In 1997 Jon-Michael enrolled at Ozark Christian College (MO). At OCC, Jon-Michael earned both a Bachelor of Biblical Literature and a Bachelor of Theology, New Testament Major. He later attended Lincoln Christian Seminary (IL) where he received a Master of Arts in Ministry Intercultural Studies Major in May of 2005.
While at OCC, Jon-Michael became a stand out defender on the soccer team. As a four year starter, he also served two as captain, earning All-Region and All-Conference honors. He most cherishes the two consecutive years he was given the "Spiritual Leader" award by his teammates.
As a student Jon-Michael served as the Youth Pastor of First Christian Church of Stilwell, OK. Upon graduating OCC, Jon-Michael served in the same role at New Testament Christian Church of Keokuk, IA. In 2003, Jon-Michael joined the staff of Halls Ferry Christian Church as the youth pastor and began teaching as an adjunct at SLCC. He now serves Halls Ferry on a part-time basis and is the Professor of Student Ministries at Saint Louis Christian College.
Jon-Michael married his wife, Leslie Kay, in May of 2001 while still at OCC. The couple have two children, a three year-old daughter and a one year-old son. The 2007 season will be Jon-Michael’s second as the SLCC soccer coach.
